St John Ambulance

St John Ambulance is the UK's leading first aid charity. They save lives, keep communities safe and are a market leader in the provision of workplace training, first aid supplies and event and ambulance services. Their vision is for a world where everyone is first aid confident, and ready and able to save lives in their communities.

Organisational Design

St John Ambulance identified a need for external organisational design and implementation support. They needed to be the right size and shape for a sustainable future as part of a major restructuring programme. They aimed to transform their structure to increase efficiency, enable delivery of the strategy, and provide a better experience for their people.

Operating Model Canvas

After reviewing St John Ambulance's 10 year vision, strategy and desired outcomes, Nine Feet Tall used Operating Model Canvas (OMC) to co-design high level structures and processes. These "To-be" designs were tested and validated through a series of workshops.

Change Management

Nine Feet Tall worked closely with St John Ambulance's HR team to conduct change impact assessments in order to understand the change gap and the likely implications. Risks, issues and considerations were captured and a strong communications plan with a stakeholder map was established to cascade details of the change. Nine Feet Tall developed a detailed transition plan and forward roadmap to ensure the benefits of the organisational transformation were realised.

RESULTS

The end design was implemented as planned and St John Ambulance were able to make significant financial savings.
