Bath Rugby Foundation take home Touch Tournament Title

On Friday 22 September we were thrilled to host our Touch Rugby Tournament in Partnership with Bath Ladies RFC. With an aim to generate healthy competition between some of the South West’s leading businesses, we certainly got plenty of that (most friendly) from all 12 participating teams. 23 epic clashes were held over 3 hours and the challengers were whittled down until only two were left standing; leaving Hargreaves Lansdown and Bath Rugby Foundation to battle it out for the trophy. In a closely contested final, Bath Rugby Foundation scooped the winners title – congratulations!

Whilst the final was a great spectacle and a fantastic ending to the day, the penultimate round of fixtures was quite possibly the highlight of the day. With DAC Beachcroft’s last opponent having to forfeit due to low numbers, leaving them a fixture short and hungry for more action, they pooled their players together with Mogers Drewett and Nine Feet Tall to end their day with two spontaneous self-refereed matches. This really encapsulated the great spirit and enthusiasm shown by every participant throughout the day and really showcased the collaboration within the Business Community.

As sponsors of the Bath Ladies RFC, we were also delighted to come together in celebration of their recent achievements and put the spotlight on Women’s Rugby, which is becoming increasingly popular.  Bath Ladies have worked tirelessly to establish themselves as a challenger club, seeing them win their league, get promoted and enlist record numbers of players.  This event was an opportunity to put this fantastic club at the forefront of the Business Community and once again they proved they are a credit to the sport and the city, with many giving up their time to volunteer and make it a truly great day for all.  A huge thank you from your proud sponsors.

Alex Reilly and Georgina Ball, Nine Feet Tall Marketing Team, said “This event was a pleasure to host. Many were involved in making this event brilliant and we would like to extend a huge amount of appreciation to Russ Mellor, Huw Bowles and Robbie Lawrence from the Bath Touch Leagues for volunteering their own time and refereeing many games throughout the tournament. InTents Catering for providing a sublime selection of Moroccan food to round the day off and refuelling the tired competitors. And finally, the fantastic companies that put on their boots and put in a stellar effort to win the trophy. The event really was made by your competition, camaraderie and competitive spirit.

Keep an eye on our social media channels over the next two weeks for more photos and video content from the event.
