Law Firms Look to the Future

On Thursday 5th March top legal minds gathered in Bristol to benefit from an interactive workshop delivered by Nine Feet Tall and Smith & Williamson. The event was called: Successful Law Firms in 2020 – Creating Future Leaders and Delivering on Clients’ Expectations

At a time when clients are demanding more and new challenges are forever arising, it is no longer enough for law firms to simply be good at law. Legal practices need to develop business and commercial skills across their teams to respond to changing requirements across the industry. The workshop was presented by Tiggy Robinson, Partner and Legal Sector Lead at Nine Feet Tall and Fiona Westwood, Partner at Smith & Williamson.

During the session delegates looked at the current landscape and the challenges faced by all, such as the demand for new talent, retaining that talent and nurturing skills. The workshop then moved on to assess the current methods for scoping, pricing and billing to address how these can be improved. There was a strong focus on Managing Client Expectations.

Tiggy Robinson of Nine Feet Tall said: “The session was very enjoyable and highly interactive with different law firms coming together to share their experiences and discuss more productive ways of meeting their clients’ needs. Many of the ideas discussed will no doubt continue to be developed back at each firm. We rounded off the session with key insights and practical tips and recommendations.”

Philip Strange, CFO at Ashfords Solicitors described the workshop as “useful and thought provoking”.
