Nine Feet Tall attend 2017 RPA Players’ Awards

Quickly becoming a regular fixture in the company calendar, Nine Feet Tall had the pleasure of attending the 19th annual RPA Players’ Awards 2017 last Wednesday. The team and a variety of guests descended upon Battersea Park, as the rugby community gathered to celebrate another fine season of British rugby. It was a fantastic evening, full of many highlights and awards, but there were three particular highlights for us:

  1. Always proud of our Bath roots, the table gave out a huge cheer when Bath number 8, Zach Mercer, took home The RPA Young Player of the Year. Well-deserved for a very promising player, congratulations Zach.
  2. The inspirational Paul Van-Zandvliet was given The RPA Special Merit Award. The larger than life ex-Newcastle Falcon was unable to receive his award in person but his story was brought to life through a moving video played on the evening. We all wish him the best with his fight against cancer.
  3. The awards culminated with one of the true greats of the game being inducted into The RPA Hall of Fame; Dan Carter. The legendary New Zealand fly-half graced Battersea with his presence, and the audience showed their appreciation with a long, standing ovation as he side-stepped the many well-wishers on his way to the stage.

We would like to thank everyone at the RPA responsible for organising such a fantastic event and our guests for making the effort to attend, and being such great company throughout the night.
